I joined KC Group Shipping in September 2020 as Financial Controller. Before joining KC Group Shipping, I worked in finance for 15 years and held senior finance roles in facilities management and IT services.
I qualified as an accountant with ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) in 2011 and continue to undertake continuous professional training and development each year to build on my finance and business knowledge.
As the company financial controller, I lead the finance team, supporting our internal departments and liaising with customers. My team and I are responsible for delivering management accounting, credit control, accounts payable, cash flow and organisational budgeting.
The support from my divisional team at KC Group Shipping is fantastic, with a dedicated group of people. Continually, the business is on a growth trajectory, and my team constantly rises to the challenges. Our department is also growing to support all finance activity throughout the company.
I enjoy working at KC Group Shipping because it has brought me a fresh challenge where I can apply the best of experience from my previous roles to the job whilst learning the intricacies of the freight forwarding industry. As they say, "every day is a school day", and it's great that the wider team are happy to provide their support to finance.
My continued objectives are to shape the finance team and processes to provide the best possible support to the business as it continues its expansion strategy. I take great pride in my role, and my team’s commitment, who show their passion regularly for ensuring our function adds value to the business and customers. I am committed to the development of that team and making sure we are taking advantage of new processes and technology.
The industry is an exciting sector to be involved in, and my hope for the future is to continue to see the same healthy growth levels and new talented people entering the industry. As KC Group Shipping develops, we will also identify, train and bring through the next generation of people into the industry. It's great to work at a business with a long-standing history of quality and experience, and I am delighted to bring my skillsets to the next stages of that journey.
