KC Group Shipping successfully ships £2m of luxury vehicles from Portugal to the United Arab Emirates.
THE BACKGROUND
Recently, one of KC Group Shipping’s clients, a high-end bespoke car dealership, requested our support in the safe and secure transportation of several high-end luxury customised vehicles, including 2 Rolls Royce, 2 Mercedes G63 and a Lamborghini Aventador, to their showroom in Dubai. The shipments were between Portugal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The transportation of high-value luxury cars comes with its own set of challenges, and this project was no exception.
THE CHALLENGE
The main challenge was to ensure the safe and timely delivery of the vehicles whilst ensuring we protected them from damage, theft or any other form of loss. The client also requested we ship some vehicles into the UAE under temporary import. For this, KC prepared and executed a Carnet, a customs document that allows for the temporary importation of goods into a country without paying customs duties and taxes.
THE SOLUTION
To ensure the safe and secure transport of the luxury vehicles, KC Group Shipping developed a comprehensive logistics plan that included the following process management steps:
- Pre-shipment inspection: KC Group Shipping conducted a thorough pre-shipment inspection of each vehicle to assess its condition and identify any pre-existing damage. This step helped ensure the cars were in good condition before shipping.
- Secure loading: KC Group Shipping utilised specialised loading equipment and experienced personnel to load the vehicles onto the shipping containers securely. We properly secured each car to prevent any movement or damage during transit.
- Carnet documentation: KC Group Shipping ensured that all necessary Carnet documentation was in place to enable the temporary import of the vehicles into the UAE without payment of customs duties and taxes.
- Ocean freight shipping: KC Group Shipping arranged for the shipment of luxury vehicles via ocean freight. This mode of transport is safe and cost-effective, and it is ideal for the shipment of high-value goods such as luxury cars.
- Customs clearance: KC Group Shipping worked closely with customs officials and our long-term partners in the UAE to ensure a smooth clearance process for the temporary import of the vehicles under the Carnet document.
THE RESULTS
Our comprehensive logistics plan and shipping management ensured we safely and securely transported each luxury vehicle from the Portuguese collection point to the UAE. The cars arrived at the client’s showroom in Dubai in excellent condition and were immediately displayed for potential customers to see.
