One such client is a leading international engineering group that designs, engineers and supplies compressor products for various highly demanding projects. Their project fields include oil and gas, refrigeration, power generation and wastewater treatment. With their manufacturing base in Scotland's Central Belt, they export products globally to some of the most remote corners of every country.

Our experienced team needed to organise safe and efficient transportation for two 60-ton gas compressor units and 11 smaller crates of spare parts and installation tooling from a crating facility near Glasgow to Singapore.
Due to the unit sizes, we needed to find the shortest route to the ocean to keep costs as low as possible.
THE APPROACH
The shortest route to the sea made perfect sense for this project. Our team analysed the clients' location against possible dock locations nearby. After our analysis, KC Group Shipping chartered a coaster vessel to call at the King George V Docks on Glasgow's historic Clydeside. The dock was less than four miles away from the client’s manufacturing site making this the ideal location.
The 11 smaller crates were containerised, cleared by customs and safely shipped separately by our team to the Singapore destination.
THE RESULTS
KC Group Shipping works closely with supply chain partners every step of the journey. We engaged a market-leading lifting services company and a heavy haulage contractor to load and unload the two huge crates from the manufacturing site to the quayside.
The next step of the operations involved lifting the load onto the coaster for a planned feeder sailing to Antwerp. The units were lashed, secured and welded into place for the short sea journey to Antwerp. The efficient logistics solutions allowed the vessel a turnaround of fewer than 24 hours in Glasgow.
