Award Winning Evening For KC Group Shipping

David Milne, Managing Director of KC Group Shipping, rounds up an excellent evening at the Glasgow Business Awards, 2022. Shortlisted in four prestigious award categories, David and the team at KC Group Shipping raised a toast to a successful night.

2022 has already been an eventful year for KC Group Shipping. We relocated to our new head office, created new client teams and added more than a few new team members. Quite a year!

We have been members of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce for many years and are regular attendees at their annual Glasgow Business Awards (GBA). It is an excellent opportunity for the business community to enjoy a night of entertainment and meet some worthy award-winners.

Although we have entered ourselves in the awards in previous years, it probably wasn't the right time for where we were as a business. But after the fantastic year we have had in 2022, we felt it was our time, and we are honoured with shortlisting in four categories

As I said, this wasn't my first GBA event, but it was certainly memorable. I want to thank the organisers for creating such a fabulous night; it's incredible to think about what goes into the planning and running of a fantastic awards ceremony, brilliantly hosted by Fred MacAulay, who had us laughing all night.

The four award categories we were nominated in were:

• The Glasgow Business Award for Best Performing Small-Medium Business
• The Glasgow Business Award for Excellence in Communications
• The Glasgow Business Award for International Trade
• The Glasgow Business Award for Entrepreneur of the Year, Managing Director, David Milne.

There was a high calibre of companies and individuals in each category, and I want to congratulate the worthy recipients.

Award Winning Evening

Our nomination in four categories was a tremendous achievement, and I am proud to announce we were successful in two of those. Winning topped an incredible evening for myself and the team, whose hard work put us in a winning position.

International Trade

KC Group Shipping were the winners of the "International Trade" award. This award is for companies that are successful in exporting and committed to continued growth in their international trade. KC Group Shipping demonstrated our expertise in planning and implementing an export strategy, including managing currency fluctuations, credit control, international marketing and the successful development and expansion of our overseas operations.

We fulfilled the criteria by prioritising international activities within our overall company strategy and managing our overseas business proactively and professionally. Our Effective sales, marketing and distribution strategy, helped us adapt to a global market.

I could not be prouder of this fantastic team, the efforts, commitment and, above all, togetherness delivered these awards, and I cannot thank each and every one of them enough.

French International and Chelsea Player N'Golo Kante perfectly expressed what it means to win an award when he said: "It is good to win awards, but the most important thing is to win together."

Entrepreneur of the Year

I have been part of KC Group Shipping since I left school, which is more years than I care to remember. I have put my heart and soul into KC Group Shipping to take the business to a level reflecting my work and the collective team effort.

The Entrepreneur of the Year award recognises driven leadership, someone who can demonstrate how they have overcome challenges to grow their successful business and achieved this through risk-taking, resilience and identification of opportunity. They must have passion, commitment, and market knowledge, be innovative and inspire and motivate their team.

I like to think I have the passion and the commitment to inspire everyone in our organisation to strive for success. Although the "Entrepreneur of the Year" accolade is a personal achievement I am delighted to receive, I see this also as a team award, as it is easy to be an entrepreneur when you lead the best team in Logistics.

We have a cultural initiative at KC Group Shipping, which drives us with a desire to make a difference and be successful. That programme is called BeKC, and last night’s award success was a fantastic example of a collective team effort.
